Azure Local system requirements
Use the Virtual Server package to back up and restore virtual machines that run in Azure Local environments.
Access node requirements
For Azure Local support, install the Virtual Server package on all nodes in the Azure Local cluster.
You can install the Virtual Server package on a standalone Hyper-V server or on a node in the Hyper-V cluster.
The following operating systems are supported for access nodes:

Microsoft Windows Server 2025 (Standard, Datacenter, and Core editions)

Microsoft Windows Server 2022 (including Core editions)

Microsoft Windows Server 2019 (including Core editions)
Access node network requirements
Access nodes for Azure Local hypervisors must have the Virtual Server package installed.

Commvault software supports the following Azure Local versions:

Authentication support
Commvault supports the following authentication methods for Azure Local:

Active Directory (AD)-based authentication

Local identity with Azure Key Vault integration
Supported virtual machine operating systems
You can back up virtual machines that use guest operating systems supported by the Azure Local platform.
Virtual Server package installation notes
The Virtual Server package is installed directly on the Azure Local Server.
