Checking Upgrade Readiness on the HyperScale X Cluster

To upgrade a HyperScale cluster from version 2.x to 3.x, it is essential to first ensure that the existing 2.x cluster is ready for an upgrade.

The HSX 3.X Upgrade Readiness Check workflow helps to verify the software versions and check the configurations of each node. It can be run at any time and does not impact running operations or a maintenance window.

To deploy and execute the workflow, contact Commvault Support.

Procedure

1. Make sure the latest maintenance release is installed on the CommServe and all nodes in the HyperScale X cluster.

2. Verify the space usage on the HyperScale X storage. If the usage exceeds 80% of the total capacity, run a space reclamation job to free up space. For more information on performing space reclamation on Hyperscale X Storage, see Performing Space Reclamation for a HyperScale Storage.

3. Obtain the HSX 3.X Upgrade Readiness Check workflow from the Commvault Store. For more information about downloading the workflow, see Downloading and Updating Workflows from Commvault Store.

   Follow the instructions for downloading and executing the workflow.

4. Select Pre-Upgrade.

5. Provide the required information:

   1. Select the storage pool name to perform the readiness check on

   2. Enter email addresses for additional users to receive the readiness report.

   3. Choose whether to send results to Commvault Cloud and/or the HSX3.0UpgradeAdvisor for review.

6. Run a Pre-Upgrade Readiness Check. The workflow will verify the readiness of the HSX cluster and email the results when it is complete.

7. Resolve errors. If any errors are found, resolve them before proceeding with the upgrade. For any questions, contact HSX3.0UpgradeAdvisors@commvault.com.
