The Commvault Command Center navigation now operates through task-based workspaces. Instead of navigating through traditional hierarchical menus, you work within dedicated workspaces designed around the tasks you perform. This fundamental redesign groups all related capabilities together in each workspace, so you access the tools you need without navigating between disconnected menu locations.
Workspaces
The platform is now organized into five workspaces:
Protect
The Protect workspace brings together all data protection capabilities for supported workloads. Use this workspace to add new workloads, create and modify backup plans, manage protected resources, check protection status, and perform all protection-related tasks. All protection functionality is consolidated in one location.
Secure
The Secure workspace consolidates all security and threat response operations. Use this workspace for threat detection, Threat Scan, Clean Rooms, Auto Recovery, and Security IQ. Investigate threats and configure your security posture from a single, dedicated location.
Comply
The Comply workspace handles all compliance and governance requirements. This workspace replaces Data Insights and provides access to compliance solutions, reporting, and governance policies. Monitor compliance status and manage retention requirements from one centralized location.
Monitor
The Monitor workspace provides complete operational visibility. View jobs, alerts, events, and reports in a single location to understand system health and investigate problems. All operational metrics and status information are consolidated here.
Manage
The Manage workspace centralizes all administrative functions. Infrastructure, storage, networking, user accounts, and system-wide policy management are organized here. Use this workspace for all day-to-day administrative operations.
Finding what you need
The Explore experience gives you direct access to capabilities without navigating the full workspace hierarchy:
-
Starred: Mark pages you access frequently for instant access. This creates personal shortcuts to your most-used pages.
-
Recents: Access recently visited pages across all workspaces. Use this to quickly return to pages you've recently opened across workspaces.
-
Search: Find capabilities based on what you want to accomplish. Search returns results across all workspaces and organizes them by task. For example:
- Search "Downloads" for download management
- Search "Users" for user and group management
- Search "Backup" to find backup plans and job history
Documentation alignment
The Commvault documentation structure mirrors the product's new workspace organization, making it seamless to find relevant procedures while working in the product.
Learning the new navigation
The workspace navigation is enabled by default in Commvault Cloud SaaS environments and Commvault Long-Term Support Release 11.44 and later. While you become familiar with the new experience, you can temporarily switch back to the classic navigation from the user menu. This option remains available during the transition period so you can learn at your own pace and provide feedback on your experience.
