CommServe Recovery Manager Promotion Request

The CommServe Recovery Manager Promotion Request workflow can be used when your company urgently needs to restore the CommServe and no user is currently available that has permission to download a Disaster Recovery (DR) backup from the Cloud Portal. You must also be authorized by your organization to initiate this request.

You can request temporary access to the CommServe Recovery Manager (Recovery Role). This role enables authorized users to download a Disaster Recovery (DR) backup for their company’s CommServe in emergency situations, such as a system failure or cyberattack.

Note

Perform this action only when no users with the CommServe Recovery Manager role are available to perform the download, and no users with the Cloud CommCell Global Administrator role are available to grant you the CommServe Recovery Manager role.

Before You Begin

Ensure that you have the following:

  • The CommCell ID of the CommServe that requires recovery.

  • Access to the email address associated with your Commvault Cloud account (required for verification).

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Cloud Services Portal.

  2. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Workflows.

    The Forms page appears.

  3. Click CommServe Recovery Manager Promotion Request.

  4. A confirmation message appears, click Continue.

  5. Specify the CommServe ID of the CommServe computer that requires recovery.

    The software automatically validates whether the user is a member of the same company group as the specified CommServe.

  6. Review the information, and click Accept.

  7. To confirm your identity, enter the 6-digit code that was sent to your registered Commvault Cloud email address.

    The request is sent to Customer Support for approval. This will take a few minutes. You may be contacted directly via a phone call to verify the request. After approval, you will receive an email with the access duration and expiration time.

    If you already have administrator privileges, this role may remain active. Otherwise, it will expire automatically after 7 days.

  8. Re-login to your Commvault Cloud account to activate the temporary access to recover the CommServe as required.
