You can configure replication to a non-standby database.
Replication uses IntelliSnap full backups of the subclient that contains the source database that you want to replicate.
If no new backups have run since the last replication operation, then the scheduled replication operation does not run.
Before You Begin
-
Verify that the SAP HANA database version on both the source and destination databases are the same. Also, the operating system on the source and destination clients must be the same.
-
Verify that the source and destination SAP HANA databases are on the same infrastructure.
-
Install the SAP HANA Agent and the MediaAgent on the SAP HANA destination client.
-
Perform an IntelliSnap full backup.
-
If you plan to use a storage policy copy, or secondary media, verify that copy precedence exists for the snapshot, and that a scheduled auxiliary copy job exists.
Procedure
-
From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Secure > Auto recovery > Replication groups.
The Replication groups page appears.
Note
You can also access the Replication groups page from the instance level.
-
Click Add.
The Select Workload Type page appears.
-
Select SAP HANA, and then click Next.
The Source page of the Configure Replication Group - SAP HANA wizard appears.
-
Enter the following information for the source computer:
-
In the Name box, type a name for the replication schedule that you are creating.
-
From the Servers list, select the VM where the source SAP HANA instance is running.
-
From the Instances list, select the source SAP HANA instance.
-
From the Databases list, select the source SAP HANA database.
-
Click Next.
The Target page of the Configure Replication Group - SAP HANA wizard appears.
-
-
Enter the following information for the destination computer:
-
From the Servers list, select the server where the destination SAP HANA instance is running.
-
From the Instances list, select the instance on which you want to replicate the data from the source computer.
-
From the Databases list, select the destination SAP HANA database on which you want to replicate the data from the source computer.
-
To restore from a storage policy copy or use a secondary media for replication, then from the Copy Name list, select a storage policy copy.
Note
If you select a storage policy copy from the Copy Name list, then the software replicates changes only when the source database backup is available on the storage policy copy or the secondary media. The backup is available on the media after the auxiliary job completes, so that is when the software attempts the replication.
-
Click Submit.
-
Results
The software initiates replication using the most recent IntelliSnap full backup.
What to Do Next
-
You can monitor the replication job on the Replication monitor table, which contains information about the status of replication groups, replication clients, and replication jobs.
-
When you fail over the HANA service from node1 to node2, run a full backup of the database.
