Configuring a Replication Group for File System Agents

A replication group is a source computer that can be replicated to a destination computer.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Secure > Auto recovery > Replication groups.

    The Replication groups page appears.

  2. In the upper-right area of the page, click Configure recovery group, and then click File Server.

The Configure recovery group - File Server page appears.

  3. Click File level replication.

The Configure recovery group - File Server page appears.

  4. On the Content tab, enter the information for the source computer:

    1. From the Server type list, select the type of the source file system that you want to replicate.

    2. From the Source client list, select a source client that you want to replicate.

    3. In the Name box, type a name for the recovery group.

    4. From the Subclients list, select the subclients that you want to replicate.

      Note

      • If you change the subclient content later, then you must modify the schedule to run for the modified content.

      • Files on the destination are deleted only when they are removed from the source backups. The Commvault software does not delete orphaned files that were not included in the backup or listed as deleted items.

The backed up contents are listed.

    5. Select the share name that you want to replicate, and then click Next.

  5. Click Next.

  6. On the Target tab, enter the information for the destination computer:

    1. From the Server type list, select the type of the target file system where you want to replicate the data.

    2. From the Destination client list, select the destination computer where you want to replicate the data.

    3. From the Copy Name list, select the copy from which you want to replicate the data.

    4. In the Number of streams box, type the number of streams to use to retrieve the data.

By default, a replication operation runs immediately after a backup operation finishes. If backups are not performed within 24 hours, the Service Level Agreement (SLA) is not met.

    5. Optional: To overwrite data to the same folder on the destination computer, select the Restore to original folder on destination check box.

    6. In the Destination path box, browse and select the UNC path to which you want to replicate the data.

    7. Optional: If you specified a UNC path in the Destination path box, enable the Impersonate user toggle, and then specify which UNC credentials to use. Use credentials that have permissions to execute the process.

    8. From the Credential list, select existing credentials or create new credentials.

      Steps to add new credentials

To add credentials to the Credential Manager, click the plus button (+), and then specify the following in the Add Credential dialog box.

      1. In the Credential name box, enter the name of the credential.

      2. In the User account box, enter the name of the user account.

      3. In the Password box, enter the password.

      4. In the Description box, you can enter a description of the credentials.

      5. Click Save.

      Note

The user account must have permissions to create files in the specified location on the destination computer.

  7. To configure additional parameters, click Advanced options:

    1. To restore both data and ACLs during the replication operation, select the Restore both data and ACLs check box.

    2. To overwrite the data on the destination computer, select the Unconditionally overwrite if it already exists check box.

  8. Click Submit.
