To use the snapshot of clone feature, in the storage array software, create a ShadowImage relationship and a ShadowImage clone. In the Commvault software, enable the clone snapshot configuration.
Before you Begin
Using the storage array software, complete the following steps:

Create a ShadowImage (SI) relationship between the primary volume (P-VOL) and the secondary volume (S-VOL) device.

Before associating a P-VOL device to a subclient, create at least one SI clone. Verify that all clones are part of the same mirror unit number.
Notes:
-
Do not use the same P-VOL device in more than one backupset or in more than one subclient.

Both the SI and the TI pairs are split in the create phase of the snapshot backup. The create phase is within the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) backup window. On certain Windows setups, the split might take more than 10 seconds, which causes a VSS timeout error.
Procedure

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Infrastructure.
The Infrastructure page appears.

Click Arrays.

On the Arrays page, in the Name column, select the Hitachi Vantara.
The Overview page of the array appears.

Under Configuration tab, in the Snap configurations tile, click Edit
.The Edit configuration dialog box appears.

In the Edit configuration dailog box, do the following:
- Move the Perform snap of an existing clone (CCI TI engine) toggle key to the right.

Click Submit.
