Deploying Commvault (Windows/Linux BYOL) from the Google Cloud Marketplace

From the Google Cloud Marketplace, you can deploy Commvault Cloud on (Windows/Linux) BYOL, which provisions a Google Cloud instance that includes the All-In-One Commvault software along with the required Windows or Linux operating system.

You can access the Google Cloud Marketplace Images here:

Important

All images are CIS Level 1 hardened. For additional information, see Certifications and Compliance.

Considerations

  • To determine the requirements for the Google Cloud Windows instance where the AMI will be deployed, see see System Requirements for Protecting Google Cloud Instances.

  • When you launch the Google Cloud instance, you must provide a key pair. You can use an existing key pair or create a new key pair as part of the deployment.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Google Cloud Marketplace and select Commvault on Linux BYOL or Commvault Cloud on Windows BYOL.

  2. Follow the common Google Cloud VM deployment steps.

The new VM will be listed as recently added in Google Cloud Portal.

  3. (Optional) Add additional storage if needed.

By default, the AMI includes the following storage configuration:

    Disk Size Purpose
OS disk 200 GB OS software and Commvault installation binaries
DataDisk1 350 GB IndexCache and Deduplication, Job Results, Library Storage, SW cache, DM2cache, registry
    DataDisk2 55 GB CommServe database
  4. When you launch the instance, provide a key pair.

    Note

You can use an existing key pair or create a new one during deployment.

Complete the CommServe Configuration

During deployment, a PowerShell script (for Windows) or a boot script (for Linux) runs automatically to configure the CommServe software. The process takes approximately 4–5 minutes. When the configuration is complete, the Commvault Command Center opens automatically on Windows. For Linux, open the Commvault Command Center manually to access the Create New Account dialog box.

  1. Log on to the new instance.

  2. For Windows, a PowerShell script automatically runs to configure the CommServe software.

  3. For Linux, a boot script runs for approximately 4–5 minutes to perform the same configuration.

  4. When the configuration is complete:

  5. On Windows, the Commvault Command Center automatically opens.

  6. On Linux, open the Command Center manually.

  7. In the Create New Account dialog box, enter the email address and password for the CommServe administrator account.

  8. After the account is created, you can log on to the Commvault Command Center.
