Use Serverless Log Backups in the following scenarios:
High-Transaction Databases
Databases with high transaction volumes require frequent log backups to minimize data loss and control log growth. Serverless Log Backups support frequent log dumps without creating excessive backup jobs.
Short RPO Requirements
If short Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) are required (for example, 15–30 minutes), configure frequent log dumps and less frequent commits. This configuration maintains the required RPO while reducing job volume and Control Plane load.
Intermittent Control Plane Connectivity
If connectivity to the Control Plane/CommServe computer is temporarily unavailable, log dump operations continue. This prevents gaps in log protection during Control Plane downtime.
Control Plane Resource Optimization
Frequent traditional log backups increase job count and processing overhead. By separating dump and commit operations, Serverless Log Backups reduce job creation and improve scalability.
