Discovering Specific Media Within a Library

By default, a tape library automatically discovers the media within a library based on the drive type at the time of configuration. If a media is deleted manually and is in Unidentified Media status, then you can manually discover the media again.

Procedure

1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Storage > Tape.

   The Tape page appears.

2. Click the tape storage for which you want to delete the contents of media.

3. Click the Media tab.

4. Select the Media that you want to discover, click the Actions button , and then select Options > Discover media.

   The Discover new media dialog box appears.

5. Select the default media type and the spare media pool where you want to move the media.

6. Click Save.

   The software discovers the media and then assigns to the specified scratch media group.
