Filtering VMs/Instances from Backups

You can create filters to exclude VMs/instances and disks from backups. You can create filters for hypervisors, for VM groups, and—if a hypervisor has multiple backup sets (which are created only in the CommCell Console)—for the backup sets.

Filters are cumulative—that is, if you have multiple filters, all specified criteria must be met, so each filter narrows the results further.

When you specify a filter, you can browse and select specific items, and you can create rules using criteria. The criteria that are available depend on the type of hypervisor. For information about the criteria, see the documentation for the hypervisor, such as Modify settings for VMware vSphere VM groups.
