Importing Media

You can import media that are outside a library into storage slots within the library. You can import media in two ways:

• Import media through the mail slot of the library (if available).
• Open the library door and manually insert media into storage slots in the library.

Ensure that the barcode used in the media is compatible with the barcode reader of the library. See the documentation of the library manufacturer for a list of compatible label formats.

Importing media through a mail slot is less time-consuming than the manual operation because the inventory update is faster than the full inventory operation that is triggered when you open and then close the library door.

If library does not automatically import media when mail slot is closed, you can import the media manually from the Command Center.

Procedure

1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Storage > Tape.

   The Tape page appears.

2. Click the tape storage for which you want to import the media.

3. Click Import media in the top-right cornet of the page.

   The Import media dialog box appears.

4. Click Yes.
