IntelliSnap - Initiating a Vault or Mirror Copy for the NDMP Agent

You can perform an Vault or Mirror copy for NDMP agent to copy snapshots from primary copy to secondary copy.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Plans.

    The Plans page appears.

  2. In the Plan name column, select the plan to run an auxiliary copy for.

The Overview page of the sbackup plan appears.

  3. In the Storage policies tab, in the Copies area, click Run auxiliary Copy.

The Run auxiliary Copy dialog box appears.

  4. In the Run auxiliary Copy dialog box, do one of the following:

    • To run auxiliary copy for all the snapshot copies, select All copies.

    • To run auxiliary copy for a specific snapshot copy, select Select a copy, and then from the Select a copy list, select the vault/replica or mirror copy.

  5. Click Submit.

When the Vault or Mirror copy of the snapshot is created, you cannot re-copy the same snapshot to the Vault or Mirror destination.

Result

  • You can track the progress of the job from the Monitor > Jobs page. When the auxiliary copy operation is complete, the snapshots will be accessible from the secondary snapshot copies.

    Note

During auxiliary copy operation, if the source volume appears offline, or source snapshot or volume is detected as deleted for the primary copy, then the auxiliary copy job completes successfully with the following status:

For the primary copy, if...

Status of IntelliSnap jobs on the secondary snapshot is displayed as...

Source volume is offline

Partial

Note

  • If the source volume is detected as offline during auxiliary copy operation, the snapshots on the volume are skipped and retried in subsequent auxiliary copy operations.

    Note

The auxiliary copy operation attempts 10 times and five days on the offline volume. If volume continues to be offline even after all attempts, corresponding snapshots will not be copied to the destination and the status of IntelliSnap jobs on the secondary snapshot copy is marked as Available with missing snaps.

To change the default retry attempts and the default retry interval, configure the following Media Management Auxiliary Copy Parameters:

  • Retry Count for Snap AuxCopy

  • Retry Time Limit for Snap AuxCopy (in Days)

Source volume is deleted

Available with missing snaps

Note

If you enabled the Ignore Completed With Errors job option for Extended Retention calculations parameter, then the jobs with the Available with missing snaps status will be considered as completed and will be aged based on the extended retention rules.

To view whether the snapshot is copied or not, see Viewing Snapshot Details.
