The Active Directory Vulnerability Assessment is available at no additional cost.
No Active Directory license, subscription, or capacity entitlement is required to deploy agents or run assessments.
Note
Running vulnerability assessments currently requires an Active Directory Standard license due to a temporary platform dependency. If you do not have an AD license, you can start a free trial to evaluate this feature. This requirement will be removed in a future update.
Entitlement model
-
The assessment functionality is provided as freeware.
-
Agents can be installed on domain controllers without purchasing an Active Directory protection license.
-
Assessments can be executed and results reviewed without activating backup or recovery features.
The assessment operates independently of Active Directory backup and recovery licensing.
Scope of functionality
The Active Directory vulnerability assessment includes:
-
Security indicator evaluation
-
Risk categorization
-
Remediation guidance
-
Assessment result reporting
It does not include:

Data collection and usage
The assessment performs read-only configuration analysis. It does not modify Active Directory settings or require backup storage to operate.

Upgrading to Active Directory protection
If you require backup, granular recovery, or forest recovery capabilities, those features are available as separately licensed offerings.
