Migration from OCUM-Based Snapshot Replication to NetApp Open Replication

If you use OnCommand Unified Manager (OCUM) in your environment and you want to replicate snapshots without OCUM, you need to configure the NetApp Open Replication feature. You also need to reassociate your subclients with the backup plan that you create in the NetApp Open Replication feature, which does not contain the OCUM information.

Process for Migrating from OCUM-Based Snapshot Replication to NetApp Open Replication

  1. Complete the configuration process for the NetApp Open Replication feature.

  2. For each subclient that you want to migrate from the OCUM setup to the NetApp Open Replication setup, reassociate the subclient with the backup plan that you create when you configure the NetApp Open Replication feature. For information about associating a subclient with a backup plan, see the documentation for your IntelliSnap agent.

  3. To reuse relationships that were created with OCUM, ensure that the Delete NetApp secondary vault/mirror volumes for aged members parameter is disabled before you delete any secondary snapshot copies on the OCUM backup plan. The OCUM relationships will remain intact and can be used by the NetApp Open Replication feature.

When you delete the associated OCUM backup plan/copy and the Delete NetApp secondary vault/mirror volumes for aged members parameter is enabled, then secondary volumes corresponding to aged or deleted dataset members or subscription context members on OCUM are automatically deleted.

  4. To use different destination volume and create new relationships for the NetApp Open Replication, add the new SVM mappings. For more information, see Viewing SVM Mappings.
