Modify the DynamoDB instance properties

You can modify the properties of an existing DynamoDB instance.

General properties

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

  2. On the Instances tab, select the DynamoDB instance you want to modify.

Authentication and credentials

  1. In the General tile, beside Cloud credential, click edit edit.

  2. Under Advanced options, select the required authentication.

  3. From the Credential list, select the new credential.

  4. Click Save.

Staging bucket path

  • Automatic staging path: Enable the Automatically select staging path toggle key.

    When enabled, the system selects a staging path automatically based on the region selected for the instance.

  • If you prefer to specify the staging path manually, beside the Staging bucket path field, click edit edit to enter a path or click browse Browse_Icon_Restore to choose an S3 bucket location.

    Note

    Staging path should be of the same region as the S3 path.

Plan

  1. Beside the Plan field, click edit edit.

  2. From the Plan list, select a new plan.

Access nodes

  1. Go to Configuration tab.

  2. In the Access nodes tile, click edit edit.

  3. Select any of the following:

    • Use infrastructure access nodes: Enable this option to use Commvault access nodes.

    • Access nodes: Select your own access nodes.

  4. Click Save.

Backup content

You can change the tables that you want to back up in a DynamoDB table group.

You can also add a rule to discover the tables based on a table name or a tag name for the table. All the tables that match the rule are automatically added to the table group.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

  2. On the Instances tab, select the DynamoDB instance you want to modify.

  3. Click the Table groups tab.

  4. In the Table group section, click the + of the table group that you want to modify.

    The Amazon DynamoDB content page appears.

    • To select specific DynamoDB tables or regions, complete the following steps:

      1. Click Add tables.

      2. Select or clear the tables or regions to include or exclude from the backups.

      3. Click Save.

    • To use a rule based on table name, complete the following steps:

      1. Click Add table rule.

      2. From the Select rule for list, select TableRule.

      3. From the Which matches with list, select the rule that you want to apply. For example, to discover tables that match a specific name, select Equals.

      4. In the Name box, type the keyword on which you want to match the cluster name.

      5. To close the Add table rule dialog box, click Save.

      6. To view the list of tables that match the table rule criteria you selected, click Preview.

    • To use a rule based on a tag name, complete the following steps:

      1. From the Select rule for list, select TagRule.

      2. In the Tag name box, type the tag name on which you want to discover the tables.

      3. From the Which matches with list, select the rule that you want to apply. For example, to discover tables that match a specific tag value, select Equals.

      4. In the Tag value box, type the tag value on which you want to match the tag name for the tables.

      5. To close the Add table rule dialog box, click Save.

      6. To view the list of tables that match the table rule criteria you selected, click Preview.

  5. Click Save.

Restore schedule

You can view and edit a database restore schedule.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

  2. Go to the Instances tab.

  3. Click the database instance for which you want to view the restore schedule.

  4. Go to the Schedules tab to view the schedule created for the database instance.

  5. If you want to edit the schedule, click a schedule from the schedule list.

  6. In the Pattern tile, click the edit button.

  7. Make the required modifications, and click Save.
