Perform a live mount to run a virtual machine directly from a stored backup.
Before You Begin

Add a cleanroom provisioning target for Nutanix AHV. For more information, see Provisioning Target Options for Nutanix AHV.

Run a backup of the VMs that you want to live mount.

Verify that the VM owner or the user group that the VM owner is associated with meet the following criteria:

Has a role that includes the Browse and Live Browse permissions

Is associated with the recovery targets for live mounts.

If a passkey is configured for restores, you must have the passkey.
Procedure

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.
The Overview page appears.

For the virtual machine that you want to live mount, click the action button,
and then select Restore.The Select restore type page appears.

Click Live mount.
The Live mount dialog box appears.

Provide the following information:

Target (admin users only): Browse to select the target that you want to mount the VM on.
By default, the virtual machine is mounted on the original target.

Virtual machine name: Enter a display name for the live mounted VM.
By default, "DR" is appended to the end of the source VM name to create the display name for the live mounted VM.

Network: Select one of the following options:

Available networks: Select a network to use for the live mounted VM.

No Network: Mount the VM without a network connection.

Original network: Mount the VM with the same network connection as the source VM.

Copy precedence: Select the copy to perform the live mount.

Click Submit.
