Performing Test Backup for Azure VMs

You can run test backup for a Azure VM to verify that your backup configuration is set up correctly.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.

  2. On the Virtual machines tab, in the row for the Azure VM, click the action button action_button, and then click Troubleshoot > Test backup.

  3. From the Access node list, select an access node to use for the backup.

If you do not select an access node, the Commvault software picks the first access node that is specified in the Configuration area of the hypervisor associated with the VM group.

  4. Select the type of backup to perform:

    • File system and application consistent: Uses VM restore point to perform a point-in-time application-consistent snapshot of all the managed disks of the VM.

    • Crash consistent: Takes a point-in-time snapshot of virtual machine data without quiescing.

  5. Click Test backup.
