The snapshot backup job selects the target device based on the following order of precedence:

Paired target device: Target devices that are already paired or with aged snapshots from previous IntelliSnap backup jobs.

The target device group specified in the snapshot configuration property Use target devices from Host Device Group.

Ungrouped device: An ungrouped, available target device is selected if none of the above target devices can be selected.
If an ungrouped device is selected, then the target device is added to the device group create by the IntelliSnap feature, named CV_Protection_Group.
It is recommended to use a device group for selection of target devices, and ensure that enough suitable target devices are available in the device group.
