You can use the Commvault software to back up and restore MEDITECH file servers that are hosted on Google Cloud instances.
You do not need to install the Commvault software on the MEDITECH system, because all backup and restore operations are initiated from the Commvault software.

The following backup types are supported:

The Google Cloud instances must be on a single cluster node, so that they can be added to a single VM group in Commvault.

The Commvault access nodes that you use to back up the Google Cloud instances must be Windows OS machines.

Your CommCell user account must have the following permissions:
-
Administrative Management permission at the CommCell level
-
Agent Management permission at the client computer level for your MEDITECH access nodes
-
Step 1: Place the MEDITECH Backup Facilitator Utility on the Access Nodes
The Commvault software uses the MEDITECH Backup Facilitator (MBF) utility.
- Copy the MBF executable file (mbf64.exe) to the Commvault Base folder of the access nodes that you use for the Google Cloud instances.
Step 2: Display MEDITECH Settings in the Command Center
To display MEDITECH settings in the Command Center, add the EnableMeditech entity setting.

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Settings > Advanced.

Click the Additional settings tile.
The Additional settings page appears.

In the upper-right area of the page, click Add, and then select Entity settings.
The Add entity settings dialog box appears.

In Name, enter EnableMeditech.

For Category, select the servers and server groups to add the setting to.

In Value, enter True.
-
In Comments, enter your comments.

Click Save.
-
Restart CommServe services.
Step 3: Create a VM Group for the MEDITECH Instances

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.
The Virtual machines page appears.

In the upper-right area of the page, click Add VM group.
The Select Hypervisor page of the Add VM Group configuration wizard appears.

For Hypervisor, select the MEDITECH Google Cloud hypervisor.

Click Next.
The Plan page of the Add VM Group configuration wizard appears.

For Plan, select the backup plan for the VM group.

Click Next.
The Add VM Group page of the Add VM Group configuration wizard appears.

In Name, enter a descriptive name for the VM group.

Add the MEDITECH instances as the VM group's content.

Move the IntelliSnap toggle key to the right.

Move the Enable MEDITECH toggle key to the right.
MEDITECH settings appear.

In System name, enter a descriptive name for the MEDITECH module.

In Master node enter the name of the node for the MEDITECH module host.

In Listener port enter the port that you use to access the MEDITECH MBI listener.
The default listener port is 2987.

In MBF User Name and MBF Password, enter the MEDITECH MBF credentials.

In MBF timeout, enter the timeout value (in seconds).
The default timeout value is 90 seconds.

Click Save.
