Replicating a Periodic Replication Group On-Demand

You can run a replication job for all replication pairs in a replication group on-demand. Periodic replication groups replicate from source VMs to destination VMs on a regular schedule, but you can run an immediate backup job followed by replication or only replication job using the Replicate now option for the entire replication group. The behavior of the action depends on the status of the replication pairs.

Note

Using the Replicate now option to replicate a periodic replication group triggers the following:

  • Only a replication job for pairs that have the Sync Pending status.

  • A backup followed by replication job for pairs that have the In Sync status.

Before You Begin

Create a periodic replication group.

Note

You cannot customize IP address settings for VMs with encrypted disks. If you configure custom IP address settings for a replication group that includes VMs with encrypted disks, failover operations fail for those VMs.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Secure > Auto recovery > Replication groups.

    The Replication groups tab appears.

  2. Under Group name, click a replication group.

The Overview tab of the replication group page appears.

  3. In the upper-right area of the page, click the actions button actions button, and then select Replicate now.

The Replicate now dialog box appears.

  4. Click Yes.
