Resetting the secret key for your break-glass account

If the TFA QR code is lost or the authenticator app is unavailable, you can reset a secret key associated with your break-glass account. In a managed service provider (MSP) environment, a tenant administrator can reset the secret key.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Explore > Companies.

  2. Click the Company.

  3. On the Overview tab, in the Break-glass account section, click Reset secret key.

  4. To perform the operation, enter the 6-digit PIN from your authenticator app and click Continue.

    If you haven’t set up the authenticator app, click Send PIN to Email to receive the 6-digit code in your inbox.

    A message appears saying the secret key has been reset successfully.

What to Do Next

If you reset your secret key, the next time when you log on with the break-glass account, a QR code appears on the login page for two-factor authentication setup.
