You can restore an Azure SQL database using Azure native backups, including:

Point-in-Time Restore (PITR)
-
Long-Term Retention (LTR)
Important
-
Selecting Restore from the Instances list page always initiates a Commvault backup restore.

Azure native backup restores are only available from the Instance details page.
Procedure
-
From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.
The Overview page appears.

On the Instances tab, click the Azure SQL instance.
-
Select the Restore Type from the Recovery Calendar.

Rhombus: Point-in-Time Restore (PITR):
-
Triangle: Long-Term Retention (LTR)
-
Blue dot: Commvault backup
-

Select the recovery type:
-
To perform a Point-in-Time Restore (PITR):
-
Select a date containing a PITR backup.
-
Use the slider bar to select the desired time.
-
Click PITR Restore.
-

To perform a Long-Term Retention (LTR) Restore:
-
Select a date containing an LTR backup.
-
Click LTR Restore.
-

To restore from a Commvault Backup (if needed):
-
Select a date containing a blue dot.
-
Use the slider bar to select the appropriate time.

Click Restore.

Configure the restore
After selecting a recovery point from the calendar, navigate to the Browse page to view the databases available for the selected recovery point.

Select the database or databases to restore.
-
Click Restore.
If you need to adjust the backup time:
-
Click the Showing backup from... link.
-
Select a different time.
The Restore options dialog box appears.

Restore the database to the same Azure SQL instance or to a different Azure SQL instance
For PITR or LTR restores, select on of the following:
-
In place: Restores the database to the same instance using either the original name or a new name.
-
Out of place: Restores the database to a different instance within the same cloud account or to an instance in another cloud account.
In the Restore options dialog box, configure the restore settings as follows:

From the Destination Server list, select the database server that has the SQL server instance.

From the Destination instance list, select the on-premise SQL server to which you want to restore the data.

From the Restore from list, select the Point-in-Time Restore (PITR), Long-Term Retention (LTR), or Commvault Backup.

The Point in time is the specific date and time selected from the recovery calendar.

Redirect options:
-
Source database name: Confirms which database is being used as the restore source.
-
Destination database name: Keeps the original database name, leave the name unchanged.
Important
If the database name matches an existing database on the destination instance, the existing database is deleted before the restore begins.

To specify the Azure SQL Database pricing tier, in the Database Tier section, select a pricing tier.
-
If you do not select a pricing tier, the default tier Standard S0 is applied.

You can configure a schedule to repeat this restore operation. To create a schedule, do the following:
-
Click Schedule.
The Add schedule dialog box appears.
-
In the Name box, type a name for the schedule.
-
Configure the Frequency and Repeat parameters.
-
To specify exceptions to the schedule, click Exceptions.
The Exceptions dialog box appears.

Configure the exception parameters:
-
You can click Add Exception to save a set of exception parameters and continue adding sets of exception parameters.

Click Save when you have finished configuring the exception parameters.

Under the Range of recurrence section, specify the Start date and End date to schedule the recurrence range of the restore operation.

To save the schedule and return to the restore dialog box, click Schedule.

Click SUBMIT.
