By default, Azure VMs with the disk size greater than 8TB are restored by DirectUploadtoManaged disk for full VM and attach disk restores; however, this approach does not allow you to restart the restores. To restart the Azure VM restores, you can use the HotAdd transport mode by adding the bAzurePreferHotAddRestoreForLargeVM entity setting.
With HotAdd transport mode, virtual disks from the Azure virtual machines that are being backed up will be mounted to the access node. This will allow the access node to access virtual disks as local disks.
