Restoring Guest Files and Folders to an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Instance

You can restore guest files and folders to an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) instance.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. On the VM groups tab, in the row for the VM group, click the action button, and then click Restore.

The Select restore type page appears.

  3. Click Guest files and folders.

    The Restore page appears.

  4. To select a different MediaAgent or source copy for the restore, or to switch to live browse mode, do the following:

    1. If you intend to switch to live browse mode, in the left column, click a folder to display the Browse from media toggle key in the Change source dialog box.

    2. In the upper-right area of the page, click Change source.

The Change source dialog box appears.

    3. To switch to live browse mode (browsing from media), move the Browse from media toggle key to the right.

    4. To select a specific source and/or MediaAgent for the restore, do the following:

      • Restore from copy: Select one of the following:

        • Automatic (default): Commvault searches for the requested data in the primary copy. If the data is not found in the primary copy, Commvault selects a secondary or auxiliary copy.

        • Primary: Commvault searches for the requested data in the primary copy.

      • MediaAgent: Select the MediaAgent that performed the backup.

For more information, see MediaAgent and Copy Precedence Considerations for Virtualization Restores.

    5. Click OK.

  5. Select the files to restore, and then click Restore.

The Restore options dialog box appears.

  6. On the Other instance tab, from the Destination hypervisor list, select the OCI account to restore the files to.

  7. For Access node, leave Automatic (default value) selected, or select an access node or an access node group.

If you select Automatic, the software performs the restore using the most suitable access node from the destination hypervisor.

If you select an access node group, the software performs the restore using the most suitable access node that is available in the access node group.

  8. From the list of instances, select the instance to restore the files to.

  9. In the Destination path box, enter the folder to restore the files to.

  10. To delete an existing file and replace it with the restored file, move the Unconditionally overwrite if it already exists toggle key to the right.

  11. Click Submit.
