Restoring individual attributes in Azure Active Directory

Use attribute-level restore to restore one or more attributes from a backed-up object without restoring the full object. This helps when a user, group, or other supported object has one or more incorrect values that you want to roll back without changing the rest of the object.

Considerations

  • The target object must already exist in Microsoft Entra ID.

  • Attribute-level restore restores only the selected attributes and does not recreate deleted objects.

  • Some Microsoft Entra ID attributes are read-only and cannot be restored.

  • Unsupported or filtered attributes might be skipped during restore.
