Restoring Informix Instance to a Different Location (Out of Place)

You can restore Informix data to a different location (out of place).

Before You Begin

Full instance restore initiates salvage log backup that requires backup activity to be enabled at the destination instance level.

To avoid salvage log backup, perform physical restore followed by logical restore.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The Instances page appears.

  2. In the row for the database instance to restore, click the action button action_button, and then click Restore.

Alternatively, click the instance, and then on the Recovery points tile, select Restore.

    The Backup content page appears.

  3. To perform restore from a secondary copy, select the Change source option in the top-right corner of the page. From the Restore from copy list, select the copy.

  4. Click Restore.

The Restore options dialog box appears.

  5. Select the Out of place option.

  6. From the Destination Client box, select a client to restore the instance to.

First, restore only the configuration files from the backup. Browse the backup job and select the Restore config files option. After the configuration restore completes, restore the database data by selecting the Physical and Logical options.
