Upgrade Considerations for Index Server Nodes

With the ever-evolving Java versions, if the applications and systems do not upgrade, there is a possible risk of API failures and other security vulnerabilities. To secure and protect data, Commvault upgrades index servers that play a prominent role in performing content indexing operations on data in your CommCell environment.

An Index Server is typically created with one or more nodes. Each node has the Index Store package installed. The Index Server nodes store data collected during the Index Server operations in a directory.

When Commvault upgrades the Index Server, the Index Store package installed on the clients is automatically upgraded.

Important

  • Commvault is upgrading index version to 8.x starting SP30. The duration of the upgrade depends on the size and age of the indexes.

  • Commvault recommends that you do not interrupt the upgrade process even if it takes longer than expected, else there is a chance that indexes could corrupt.
