Commvault Cloud will typically upgrade your software automatically without any impact to your backups. However, there may be cases when you would like to upgrade the Commvault Cloud software component on-demand.
The upgrade process must be performed in the following order:

MediaAgent
-
HyperScale X nodes
-
File system, database and Active Directory agents or laptops
Before You Begin
Verify that the MediaAgent and the servers/laptops have access to the internet.
Procedure
Upgrading a MediaAgent
Note
If your MediaAgent is used by a hosted infrastructure access node, the MediaAgent is automatically upgraded when the hosted infrastructure is upgraded.
The Backup Gateway performs the role of a MediaAgent and virtual server. To manually update the MediaAgent software, complete the following steps:

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Infrastructure.
The Infrastructure page appears.

Click the MediaAgents tile.
The MediaAgents page appears.

In the Name column, click the MediaAgent that you want to upgrade.
The MediaAgent page appears.

In the Control section, to turn on the maintenance mode, move the Maintenance mode toggle key to the right.

In the upper-right area of the page, click the action button
, and then click Upgrade software.The Confirm software update dialog box appears.

To allow the server to reboot if required during installation, move the Reboot if required toggle key to the right.

Click Yes.

After upgrade, to turn off the maintenance mode, move the Maintenance mode toggle key to the left.

Upgrading Servers and Laptops
To upgrade servers, complete the following steps:

Create a Server Group and include the servers to be upgraded.

Create a Blackout Window for the server group.

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Infrastructure > Server groups.
The Server groups page appears.

For the server group that you want to upgrade, click the action button
, and then click Upgrade software.The Confirm software upgrade dialog box appears.

To allow the server to reboot if required during installation, select the Reboot if required check box.

Click Yes.
