A database group is a logical entity that contains the databases that need to be backed up. You can back up specific databases at a particular time or frequency by adding the databases to a user-defined database group for DumpBasedBackupSet.
You cannot create a user-defined database group for FSBasedBackupSet. It can only contain a default database group.
Tip
You can configure pre-process and post-process settings at the database group level to prepare the database before backup (for example, flush caches or validate consistency) and perform post-backup tasks such as cleanup, verification, or integration with external systems.

Before You Begin

If you have not done so, create a backup plan.
This backup plan determines when the software automatically backs up the data files. For more information, see Creating a backup plan.

If you have not already done so, add an instance for the PostgreSQL database.
Procedure

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.
The database Overview page appears.

Go to the Instances tab.

Click an instance.
The instance page appears.

On the Backup sets tab, click DumpBasedBackupSet.
The DumpBasedBackupSet overview page appears.

On the Databases Group tab, click Add database group.
The Add database group dialog box appears.

In the Database group name box, type the database group name.

From the Plan list, select a backup plan.

In the Number of data streams box, type the number of streams that the software uses for backups.

To include the object list in the backup content for dump-based backups, select the Collect Object List During Backup check box.

To add the databases that you want to include in the database group, select the check boxes of the databases.

Click Save.
