Storage Accelerator enables a client to send backup data directly to a configured cloud storage library when the client can reach the S3 target over the network. In that mode, the client bypasses the Flex node data path, which improves backup and restore speed and reduces the Flex node processing load. If the client cannot reach the cloud storage library, Commvault falls back to the standard path where the client sends data to the Flex node, and the Flex node writes it to the library.
There are three main deployment options:
- Direct client-to-S3 with Storage Accelerator
- Client-to-Flex node-to-S3
- Hybrid
Note
Each Flex node is sized to handle 500TB of back-end storage and requires a minimum of two nodes for resiliency.
