As an MSP administrator, you can configure an Azure-hosted Auto Recovery target for a child company. The hosted target uses an available Azure subscription to provide the recovery infrastructure required for Auto Recovery.
After the target is configured, the child-company tenant administrator can use the hosted target for Auto Recovery operations and request access to the Azure recovery environment when needed.
Prerequisites
-
A new Azure subscription must be available for the child company. Each hosted Auto Recovery target requires a separate Azure subscription.
-
Add the
UseForCommvaultHostedTargettag to each Azure subscription that you want Commvault to use for hosted recovery targets, and set its value totrue. -
The Microsoft account that you use to create the Azure auto recovery credential must have the Global Administrator role in the Microsoft Entra tenant.
-
Network connectivity must be established between the Commvault infrastructure and the recovery environment.
Create the Azure Auto Recovery Credential
-
From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Account > Security.
-
Click the Credential vault tile.
-
Click Add.
-
For Account type, select Cloud Account.
-
For Vendor type, select Microsoft Azure.
-
For Authentication type, select Azure auto recovery.
-
Click Sign in with Microsoft to authenticate with the Microsoft account that has access to the subscriptions to use for hosted recovery target.
-
Review and accept the Microsoft consent request.
-
Return to Command Center, and then save the credential.
Enable the Hosted Recovery Target for a Child Company
-
From Command Center, go to Explore > Companies > company.
-
On the Overview tab, in the Auto Recovery Target tile, enable the Enable hosted target toggle.
-
Select the Azure region for the recovery target, and then click Submit.
The available regions are based on the regions available for the child company's recovery configuration.
What Commvault Creates
After you enable the hosted target, Commvault selects an eligible Azure subscription and automatically configures the recovery target.
The provisioning process creates and configures resources including:
-
An Azure hypervisor and associated credential for the child company.
-
An Azure resource group for the hosted recovery target.
-
A virtual network.
-
A network security group.
-
A storage account.
-
The required recovery target configuration.
Commvault also associates the selected Azure subscription with the child company so that the subscription is not used for another hosted Auto Recovery target.
Next Steps
After the hosted target is provisioned, the child company can use it when configuring an Auto Recovery replication group.
