Deploy a preconfigured environment in VMware vSphere (evaluation only)

You can deploy a preconfigured Commvault environment in VMware vSphere for evaluations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept deployments.

Important

The VMware vSphere appliance is only for evaluations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts. You can’t upgrade or convert this deployment to a production environment. For a production environment, use a cloud marketplace image or install Commvault software manually.

Prerequisites

  • VMware vSphere

    • Permissions to deploy a VM from a template and to download templates

    • 6vCPU, 24 GB RAM, 1.4 TB disk space

    • Operating system credentials for the VM

  • Commvault software

    • Admin username and password

Download the image

  1. Go to the Commvault Store.

  2. In the upper-right area of the page, click Login to log in.

  3. In the search bar, type VMware, and then download the latest VMware vSphere image for the operating system that you want to use.

    Linux and Windows images are available.

Deploy the image in vCenter

  1. Log on to VMware vCenter.

  2. Deploy the downloaded .ova file.

  3. After deployment is complete, wait for the VM to finish any startup tasks and updates.

  4. Go to https://[FQDN]/commandcenter to complete the configuration.

  5. When the configuration is complete, log on to cloud.commvault.com.
