It is important to correctly install the Commvault software on the production and standby CommServe hosts.

First, install the software on the production CommServe host. For more information on installing the packages on the production CommServe host, see Installing Commvault Software for a New Windows Production CommServe Host.
If you already have a CommServe server, then, depending on your environment, you may have to install only the CommServe Failover Package. For more information on installing the CommServe Failover package, see Install the CommServe Failover Package on an Existing Windows CommServe Host.

Then, install the software on the standby CommServe host. For more information on installing the packages on the Standby CommServe host, see Installing Commvault Software for a New Windows Standby CommServe Host.
