You can move a deduplication database (DDB) to a new location on the same MediaAgent or to a different MediaAgent. The move can be performed across platforms (for example, from Windows to Linux or vice versa), provided that both the source and destination MediaAgents use the same endianness.
During the DDB move, the software suspends all jobs associated with the DDB until the operation is complete. Jobs related to other DDBs within the same storage pool continue to run. If the DDB being moved includes active partitions that are not part of the move, the software resumes the suspended jobs when the move operation begins and continues using the active partitions.
Note
You cannot move or create a deduplication database (DDB) partition in the same directory as the Index Cache or in a parent directory of the Index Cache. You can use other valid directories, including a subdirectory of an Index Cache parent directory.
For example, if the Index Cache path is D:\CVData\IndexCache:
- You cannot create or move a DDB partition to D:\ or D:\CVData.
- You can create or move a DDB partition to D:\CVData\DDB or D:\CVData\IndexCache\DDB.
Supported Move Methods
You can perform the DDB move operation in the following ways:
-
Automated Move: The software automatically performs the move.
-
Manual Move: You can manually move by using a workflow
