Performing System Protected Files Restores

Restore system protected files to a new location on the same computer or a different computer.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Files.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. Go to the Files tab, and then click the file server.

    The file server page appears.

  3. Go to the Subclients tab.

  4. In the Actions column for the subclient you backed up, click the action button action_button, and then click Restore.

    The Backup content page appears.

  5. Go to [System State] > Components > System Protected Files.

  6. Click the action button action_button, and then select Show system protected files.

    Important

During browse and restore operations for System State Component restores, certain registry folders may appear in the content tree, but their individual registry items (keys and values) are not displayed in the user interface.

This behavior is by design. To access specific registry items, you must restore or download the entire registry folder from the backup.

If a registry folder appears empty in the Command Center browse view, it does not indicate that no data was backed up. The registry data may be present within the folder even though individual registry items are not displayed in the Command Center.

  7. Click Restore.

The Restore options dialog box appears.

  8. From the Destination list, choose the destination computer for the restore.

  9. Choose the restore location.

In the Destination Path box, type the full path to the destination folder, or click Browse to select the destination folder.

    Note

You cannot perform a partial restore of system protected files to their original folder. The checkbox is disabled in the Restore options dialog box.

  10. To overwrite the existing data, select the Unconditionally overwrite if it already exists check box.

  11. Optional: To receive an Email when the restore operation completes, select the When the job completes, notify me via email check box.

  12. Click Restore.
