Run Load Balance
This feature, initiated by clicking the Run Load Balance button, redistributes loads across all Indexing Version 2 index servers in a CommCell in order to achieve optimal distribution of indexes across available disk space.
The following image shows the Run Load Balance button:
Note:
The Run Load Balance button appears only after downloading and deploying the Load Balance Index Servers Workflow in the CommCell.
The CommCell also includes a default workflow called System created index cache load balancing, which runs automatically at midnight on the last Sunday of the month. You can modify this default workflow or run it immediately. For more information, see Managing Schedule Policies.
For more information, see Running Index Server Load Balancing from the Index Server Load Report.
Current Index Server Load Status
This chart displays the number of selected Indexing Version 2 index servers with index caches in Light, Good, Warning, and Overloaded load statuses. These load statuses, which are calculated as current free disk space divided by total disk size of the index cache, are as follows:
Light: The index server load is in a light state (load status of 0% to 30%).
Good: The index server load is in an optimal state (load status of 31% to 70%).
Warning: The index server load is nearing an overloaded state (load status of 71% to 90%).
Overloaded: The index server load is in an overloaded state, and load balancing should be performed (load status of 91% to 100%).

Index Size in MediaAgents
This chart displays the sizes of each index (in actual MB, and as a percentage of the total size of all indexes) across the selected Indexing Version 2 index servers.
MediaAgent Status
This chart displays the load statuses of the selected Indexing Version 2 index servers.

Top 5 MediaAgents Load
This chart shows load trends by displaying the past, present, and future loads of the selected Indexing Version 2 index servers. The loads are calculated as free disk space versus total disk size of the index cache.

Details
This table displays load status information about the selected Indexing Version 2 index servers, based on static, current, and forecasted metrics performed by the system.
Column | Description |
---|---|
Media Agent | The name of the MediaAgent that is acting as an index server. |
Status | The current load status of the MediaAgent. |
Management | An indication of whether you might need to run the Load Balance Index Servers workflow. |
Disk Size (GB) | The total disk size of the MediaAgent. |
Free Size (GB) | The current free disk space of the MediaAgent. |
Present Load (%) | The current load percentage of the MediaAgent, calculated as current free disk space versus total disk size of the index cache. |
Future Load (%) | The future load percentage of the MediaAgent, calculated as forecasted free disk space versus total disk size of the index cache. |
