The Virtualization guided setup guides you through creating a server plan, adding a hypervisor, and adding a VM group.
Before You Begin
Complete the Core Setup Wizard.
Review the information in Microsoft Azure: System Requirements.
For Azure Resource Manager, the hypervisor represents an application, and there are two methods of deployment:
The traditional method with Azure Active Directory where you must set up the application and tenant. With this option, during hypervisor configuration, you must provide the following information:
Application ID and password
To complete this type of deployment, refer to Setting Up an Application and Tenant for Azure Resource Manager.
Managed Identity authentication with Azure Active Directory. This is a more secure method of deployment. Using this method ensures that your Azure subscription is accessed only from authorized Managed Identity-enabled virtual machines. In addition, the process of adding an Azure hypervisor is more simplified; you will only need the Subscription ID, you will not need the Tenant ID, Application ID and Application Password information.
To complete this type of deployment, refer to Setting Up Managed Identity Authentication for Azure Resource Manager.
At least one machine must have the VSA installed. For more information, see VSA Proxies and File Recovery Enablers for Linux.
If the setup page is not displayed, from the navigation pane, click Guided setup.
After you complete the core setup, on the Protect tab, click the Virtualization tile.
On the Create server backup plan page, type a name for the plan, then provide information about storage, retention, and backup schedules. For more information, see Creating a Server Plan.
If you configured a server backup plan as part of the Core Setup, the wizard skips this page.
The Add hypervisor page appears.
Provide the following information:
Select vendor: Select Azure - Resource Manager.
Hypervisor name: Enter a descriptive name for the hypervisor.
Enter host or account information:
Azure Resource Manager:
Subscription ID: Enter the subscription ID for your Azure account.
For the traditional method of deployment:
Tenant ID: Enter the tenant ID associated with the Azure account.
Application ID: Enter the application ID associated with the tenant.
Application password: Enter the password for the application.
For Managed Identity Authentication method of deployment:
Connect using Managed Identity: Enable this option.
Access node: Select an Azure virtual machine in the region to be protected.
On the Add VM group page, type a descriptive name to identify the VM group, and then select virtual machines to be protected.
To finish, choose one of the following options:
Click Back up Now to perform an immediate backup of the virtual machines in the VM group (without requiring confirmation).
The Job details page appears and displays job status information.
Click Do it later to go to the hypervisor page without performing a backup.
