When you configure a recovery target for Azure Stack Hub, provide Azure-specific values for the destination site.
Select vendor: Select Microsoft Azure Stack Hub.
Application type: Select the type of operations that use this recovery target.
Regular: To use this recovery target for live mount operations or virtual lab operations, select this option.
Replication: To use this recovery target as a destination site for replication jobs, select this option.
Recovery target name: Enter a descriptive name for the destination (for example, DR site 1).
Azure hypervisor: Select the destination hypervisor.
Access node: Select an access node (also called proxy) to use for the replication operation.
To restore multiple instances or VMs simultaneously, select Automatic to distribute the workload (instances or VMs) in the replication job across the access nodes that are assigned for the destination hypervisor. This option is available for operations both from streaming backups or IntelliSnap backup copies.
First, the instances or VMs are assigned to the access nodes by a region match. If access nodes are not available in the same region, then the instances or VMs are assigned using the round-robin method.
The Automatic option is available only for Azure.
Users and user groups: Select items from the list and click OK to associate users or user groups with the recovery target.
VM display name: Select Prefix or Suffix, and then enter a string to be appended to the original display name to create new destination VM names.
Region: Select the region for the restored VM.
This field applies only to Azure.
Availability zone: For Azure managed disks, select the pre-defined availability zone for the restored VM.
The zones listed apply only to the region selected for the restored VM. If you select the Auto option rather than a specific availability zone (1, 2, or 3), and if the feature is supported for the specified region and VM size, the VM is restored to the same availability zone as the source VM, otherwise, it is restored without a zone (No Zone).
You can only change this value for new recovery targets or if a recovery group is a warm site for Azure.
Resource group: To specify the resource group for the destination VM, select the group from the list.
Storage account: Select the storage account for the destination virtual machine and disks.
VM size: Select a size specification for the destination virtual machine.
Disk Type: For managed disks only, select the disk type for the Azure Stack Hub destination VM: Auto select (same as the source VM), Standard HDD, Premium SSD.
Consider the following:
When the Disk Type for the recovery target is set to Auto select, the destination VM disk type is as follows:
For Azure Stack Hub to Azure Stack Hub replication, the destination VM disk type is the same as the source VM.
For VMware to Azure Stack Hub replication, the destination VM disk type is standard HDD.
When the Disk Type for the recovery target is set to Premium SSD, but in the Replication Group Override window, the Disk Type is set to Original, the destination VM disk type is as follows:
When the Disk Type for the recovery target is set to Auto select, and in the Replication Group Override window, the Disk Type is set to Original, the destination VM disk type is as follows:
For Azure Stack Hub to Azure Stack Hub replication, when in the Replication Group Override window, the VM size selected does not support premium SSD (for example, D2v3), the destination VM disk type is standard HDD.
For Azure Stack Hub to Azure Stack Hub replication, when in the Replication Group Override window, the VM size selected supports premium SSD (for example, B2ms), the destination VM disk type is the same as the source VM.
Virtual network: Select a network connection for the restored VM, or leave the default value of Auto select.
Static IP addresses from a source VM are not replicated to the destination VM.
Only 1 NIC can replicate to an Azure Stack Hub destination, so even if the source VM has multiple NICs, only 1 NIC is available in the replicated VM.
Security group: Specify a network security group for the restored VM or leave the default value of Auto select.
Create public IP: To configure a public IP address for destination VMs, select this check box.
Restore as a managed VM: To create the destination VM as a managed VM in Azure, leave the check box selected.
When you select this option, the restore operation creates virtual machine disks in the specified storage account, and then converts them to managed disks and attaches the disks to the restored virtual machine.
