You can migrate your on-premises IBM i system to Skytap.
Procedure
Install the IBM i File System Agent on the Linux server that is used as the access node.
The Linux server can be a MediaAgent on the same network as the IBM i system.
Optional: Create a plan for migration.
Configure the on-prem IBM i system as an IBM i client.
To verify the DR pre-requisites for IBM i, see Verify the DR pre-requisites for IBM i.
Ask the IBM i system administrator to run the IBM i Disk Space Report.
Create and deploy a MediaAgent (with sufficient storage) on Skytap.
Create a deduplicated storage pool on the Skytap MediaAgent.
Create a secondary copy for the non-DR backup subclients pointing to the Skytap storage pool.
The auxiliary copy subclient performs a backup to the Skytap MediaAgent.
Create an IBM i virtual machine in Skytap.
Configure the Skytap IBM i virtual machine as an IBM i client.
Start the 1-Touch restore process from the CommServe server:
Restore the DR Backup ISO to the Skytap MediaAgent.
The 1-Touch restore job is suspended at this point.
Upload the DR Backup ISO to Skytap.
If the upload takes longer than 15 minutes, you must disable the Skytap session timeout temporarily.
Change the VM hardware configuration to boot in D Mode side – Manual.
Start the VM.
As soon as the media icon is available on the VM, mount the ISO image.
Recover system data and Commvault libraries from the DR Backup.
Turn off the system.
Change the VM hardware configuration to boot in B Mode side – Normal.
Turn on the system, and then wait for the system to boot.
Resume the 1-Touch restore job.
