Creating Disk Filters for Red Hat Virtualization

To exclude a VM disk from backups, create a disk filter.

Note

You can only filter non-OS disks. If a filter matches an OS disk, Commvault ignores the filter and backs up the OS disk.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

    The Virtual machines page appears.

  2. On the Hypervisors tab, click the hypervisor.

    The hypervisor page appears.

  3. Click the VM group that you want to create a disk filter for.

    The VM group page appears.

  4. In the Content section, click Manage.

The VM group content dialog box appears.

  5. On the Disk Filters tab, click Add rule.

The Add disk filter dialog box appears.

  6. From the Disk filter type list, select one of the following:

    • To filter disks by name, select Disk name or pattern, and then enter the name of the disk or pattern that you want to filter.

You can use the "*" wildcard to represent a string of characters.

    • To filter disks that exist in a storage domain, select Storage domain, and then select the relevant storage domain.

  7. Click OK.
