Creating an Instance Filter for Amazon Web Services VM Groups

To exclude specific instances from backup operations, you can create a filter for VM group contents.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

    The Virtual machines page appears.

  2. On the VM groups tab, click the VM group.

    The VM group properties page appears.

  3. In the Content section, click Manage.

    The VM group content dialog box appears.

  4. On the Filters tab, manually exclude instances or configure a rule to automatically exclude instances from the VM group.

    • To manually exclude instances from the VM group, click Add virtual machines, and in the Add instances dialog box, select the instances that you want exclude from the VM group, and then click OK. For more information, see Add Instances Options for Amazon.

    • To automatically exclude instances based on search criteria, click Add filter rule and in the Add rule dialog box, configure a rule, and then click Save. For more information and examples, see Add Rule Options for Amazon.

  5. Click OK.
