Creating VM Filters for VMware

To exclude specific VMs from backup operations, you can create a filter for VM group contents.

Procedure

1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

   The Virtual machines page appears.

2. On the Hypervisors tab, click the hypervisor.

   The hypervisor page appears.

3. On the VM groups tab, click a VM group.

4. In the Content section, click Manage.

   The VM group content dialog box appears.

5. On the Filters tab, manually exclude VMs or configure a rule to automatically exclude VMs from the VM group.

   • To manually exclude VMs from the VM group, click Add virtual machines, and in the Add virtual machines dialog box, select the VMs that you want exclude from the VM group, and then click OK. For more information, see Add Virtual Machines Options for VMware.

   • To automatically exclude VMs based on search criteria, click Add rule and in the Add rule dialog box, define a rule, and then click Save. For more information and examples, seeAdd Rule Options for VMware.

6. Click OK.
