Enabling VMware vSphere Integration for Kubernetes

You can enable direct VMware vSphere snapshot integration for Kubernetes clusters that run the in-tree vsphereVolume (deprecated) plug-in.

Caution

vsphereVolume is in-tree volume plug-in and is deprecated from active Kubernetes releases. Upgrade your VMware cluster to support the Container Storage Interface (CSI) out-of-tree driver.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > System.

  2. Click the Additional settings tile.

    The Additional settings page appears.

  3. Click Add, and then select Entity settings.

The Add entity settings dialog box appears.

  4. In the Name box, enter bK8sAllowVsphereSnapshots.

  5. From the Entity list, select the Kubernetes access nodes.

You can select individual access nodes or to server groups.

  6. In the Category box, enter VirtualServer.

  7. From the Type list, select Boolean.

  8. In the Value box, enter True.

  9. In the Comment box, enter an explanation for the change.

For example, enter Enable legacy vSphere volume snapshot integration.

  10. Click Save.
