Fixing Mismatched Permissions in Entitlement Manager

You can fix mismatched permissions for live data sources. To fix mismatched permissions, permissions from the parent folder overwrite the permissions on the subfolder.

Permissions are mismatched if either of the following is true between a parent folder and its subfolder:

  • Inheritance is disabled

  • Permissions differ

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Activate.

    The Activate page appears.

  2. Under File Storage Optimization, click Entitlement manager.

    The Entitlement manager page appears.

  3. On the Review tab, from the Select server list, select the server that contains the data sources that you want to review.

The first data source for the server is automatically selected. The following page changes occur:

    • The Review Folder Permissions tab appears.

    • The Inheritance disabled option is selected.

    • In the Folder Information table, subfolders that have permissions that differ from the parent folder and that have inheritance disabled appear.

  4. To change the data source, from the data source list, select the data source that contains the folders that you want to review.

  5. To review all folders instead of only folders that have inheritance disabled, select Permission differences.

In the Folder Information table, subfolders that have permissions that differ from the parent folder appear. Both folders that have inheritance disabled and folders that have inheritance enabled appear.

  6. To view the permission differences between a parent folder and a subfolder, click the check box for the subfolder.

The user permissions for the parent folder and the subfolder appear in the Selected Folder section.

  7. You can fix the permissions or ignore the permission differences:

    • To ignore the permission differences, in the rows for the folders that you want to ignore, click the check box, and then click Ignore.

The folders are moved to the Ignored Folders tab. To move folders from the Ignored Folders tab back to the Broken Permission Folders tab, in the rows for the folders that you want to move, click the check box, and then click Reset.

    • To apply the parent folder permissions to the subfolders, in the rows for the folders that you want to fix, click the check box, and then click Fix Permissions.

A background job is created to fix the permissions.
