To perform faster backups on data that resides on the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale File Server in the Command Center, you need to configure a NAS client, configure the storage array, and then configure a subclient. Then you can run a backup operation.
Step 1: Adding the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale NAS Server
Add the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale NAS server to back up CIFS shares or NFS exports. You can also use NDMP backups for CIFS shares or NFS exports.
For instructions, see Adding the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale Isilon NAS File Server.
Step 2: Creating a User Defined Subclient
A default subclient is automatically created when you set up the NAS file server. The default subclient backs up the entire data on the file server. You can also create your own subclient to back up a particular data set.
-
Create a subclient to back up the CIFS shares and NFS exports. For instructions, see Creating a User-Defined Subclient for CIFS Shares and NFS Exports.
-
Create a subclient for NDMP backup operations. For instructions, see Creating a User-Defined Subclient for NDMP Backup Operations.
Step 3: Perform a Test Backup and Restore
Verify that the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale NAS Server is added correctly by performing a test backup and restore.
