Searching Messages Using Exchange Mailbox

You can search archived messages.

You can search archived mailboxes for messages based on their metadata, such as mailbox name, Subject, From, To, receive time, and so on. Data that is excluded by filtering does not appear in the search results.

Before You Begin

To search email messages by using an exact keyword, you must enable exact keyword matching. For more information, see Creating an Exchange Journal Mailbox Plan.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Applications > Exchange.

    The Exchange page appears.

  2. Click the Exchange client that contains the mailbox that you want to search.

    The Exchange client page appears.

  3. On the Mailboxes tab, click the check box for the mailbox, and then click Restore.

  4. Click the Search box, and then enter the search terms.

  5. To search for email messages by exact keyword matching, in the search box, enter dq:, followed the search term.

  6. Click Search.

Results

The results appear in the Search Results tab.
