Windows application snap mounts take a long time or seem to be hung


Restore, live browse, or GUI mount of application-aware backup snapshots on Windows hosts might take a very long time to complete.


This issue can occur when previous mounts of the same or different application-aware snapshots on the host are not cleaned up.


  1. On the command line for the Windows mount host, run the following command to remove stale mount entries:

    cmd> mountvol /r
  2. Retry the restore, live browse, or GUI mount operation.
