Creating a Virtual Client

After you configure your Google environment, create a virtual client to perform backup and restore operations.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers, and then click New Client > Cloud Apps > Google Mail or Google Drive.

The New Gmail Client dialog box or the New GDrive Client dialog box is displayed.

  2. On the General tab, provide the following details:

    1. In the Client Name box, type a name for the new virtual client.

    2. In the Access Node box, select the physical client computer where the Cloud Apps package is installed.

    3. In the Storage Policy box, select a storage policy for the backup and restore operations.

  3. On the Connection Details tab, provide the following details:

    1. In the Email ID box, type the email ID of the super admin.

    2. In the Application Client ID box, type the client ID of your Google service account.

    3. In the Application Email Address box, type the email ID of your Google service account.

    4. In the Application Private Key Filepath box, type or browse to the location of the PKCS12 key that you obtained when you created a service account.

Notes

  • You can see the application client ID of your service account only after enabling the domain-wide delegation. For more information, see Creating a Service Account.

  • Use the options provided on the Auto Discover tab to enable auto discovery for all subclients in an instance. For steps to enable auto discovery, see Enabling Auto Discovery of User Accounts.

Results

In the CommCell Console, you can now see the following items:

  • Under Client Computers, you can see the new virtual client.

  • Under Cloud Apps, you can see the Cloud Apps instance. You can use this instance to enable auto discovery of Google user accounts.

  • Under the instance, you can see a default subclient that was automatically created. You can use the default subclient to discover your Google user accounts.
