Deleting a MediaAgent

You can delete a MediaAgent.

Note

If you delete an active MediaAgent, recall operations might fail.

Before You Begin

  • In some conditions, deleting a MediaAgent can have significant, negative effects on a CommCell environment. Before you delete a MediaAgent, see Effects of Deleting a MediaAgent. (Also, when you delete a MediaAgent, a confirmation dialog box appears, and you can view a MediaAgent Deletion Impact report from that dialog box.)

  • To delete a node in a HyperScale storage pool, you must delete the storage pool. Also, you must delete all the other nodes in the storage pool. The deletion of storage pool and nodes can lead to data loss. For instructions to delete a HyperScale storage pool, see Deleting a HyperScale Storage Pool.

  • If the MediaAgent that you want to delete is currently being used as an index server, you can use the Change Index Server workflow to move all of its indexing associations to another MediaAgent. For more information, see Changing an Indexing MediaAgent Using the Change Index Server Workflow.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Storage Resources > MediaAgents.

  2. Right-click the MediaAgent, and then click Delete MediaAgent.

The Enter Confirmation text dialog box appears.
